John Svoboda, a dedicated artist of the guitar since childhood, has tilled the soil of many styles of music. His pursuit of the classical guitar has cemented the direction of his musical life. John Svoboda plays with command and sensitivity that captures the essence of the classical guitar. His discography displays highest caliber of achievement of the solo instrument. Educated at Emporia State University (guitar performance), University of Missouri Kansas City (guitar performance), and University of Phoenix (psychology), Mr. Svoboda continues to be innovative in repertoire style, powerful as an influence to students, and serves as an effective educator of the principles that structure success in achievement. His repertoire spans all era’s of music, displaying his ability with excellence in technique, interpretation, and style.

Originally from St. Louis, Mr. Svoboda has studied the guitar extensively with some of the world’s greatest virtuosos. Initially trained under the guidance of Donald Kile, Svoboda spent several years working with the great virtuoso Douglas Niedt. Further studies include classes with Pepe Romero, the Assad Brothers, Scott Tennant, the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, William Kanengiser, Vladimir Mikulka and Anthony Glise. Mr. Svoboda has been a guest on television programs, has been featured on radio stations, and his recordings have been played in settings on NPR (National Public Radio). He is recently released his fourth album.

Mr. Svoboda heads the Guitar Department at Music/Arts Institute®, where his commitment and enthusiasm is boundless. As a member of the graduating classes (Levels I and II) at Rapport Leadership International, John uses the effective principles taught there and applies them to his successful teaching program—The Elite Guitar Program. Subjects such as: focus, discipline, expression, positive habits, goal setting and reaching, stage presence and much more are emphasized through private instruction as well as group workshops. Svoboda performs throughout Kansas City, is a member of the Music/Arts Institute ® Board of Directors.
